If you are interested in construction work at 159 Boerum St. and 222 Johnson Avenue (at Humbolth street and Bushwick Avenue in Brooklyn), check the boundaries in the map (read more). Grand Openings at the Community Empowerment Center

April Staff Profile: Meet Marcia Hargrove

I have been with the agency for almost 10 years now, since 2003. I was hired by one of RBSCC's Senior Citizen Centers as a part-time bookkeeper and 3 months later I was promoted to Assistant Director. I then moved to the RBSCC Community Empowerment Center's HomeBase homelessness prevention program, where I've played several roles, serving as a Senior Case Manager and a Supervisor, helping families avoid homelessness, and also working with families residing in shelter to get them relocated. I am currently Assistant Program Director of the Brownsville HomeBase program.

RiseBoro Kit Assembly Event

Last week RiseBoro Community Partnership sponsored a PowrServ event to assemble 450 hygiene kits that help people maintain basic hygiene and thus prevent spread of disease or illness. PowrServ assembles hygiene kits with churches, schools, companies and organizations across the United States.

Homebase in the News

Here at the Community Empowerment Center, we manage two Homebase homelessness prevention programs, located in Bushwick and Brownsville. The goal of Homebase is to stop homelessness before it starts, by reaching out to community residents who are at imminent risk of losing their homes. A recent study by the program's funder, the Department of Homeless Services, proves that this strategy really works.
